Policy Dialogue on Women in Freight Mobility
On
30th March 2026, AITWA actively participated in the Policy Dialogue
on Women in Freight Mobility, where an important discussion took place on
increasing women’s participation in the transport and logistics sector.
Representing
AITWA, Ms. Reema Jogani (Chairperson – Women Wing, AITWA) along with Ms.
Minal Mehta and Ms. Neha Kalpesh Vora, strongly presented the voice of the
industry. A real-life perspective was also shared by Ms. Seema, a female
truck driver, highlighting on-ground challenges.
During
the dialogue, it was clearly emphasized that higher participation of women in
logistics can significantly contribute to India’s economic growth, and emerging
opportunities like e-mobility can play a key role in this transformation.
AITWA
also formally presented two detailed documents covering:
·
Key
challenges faced by women in logistics and commercial driving (safety, legal,
infrastructure, financing issues)
· Practical challenges in EV adoption in the logistics sector (charging infrastructure, high cost, policy gaps, ROI concerns)
AITWA
strongly advocated for:
·
Safer
and women-friendly infrastructure on highways
·
Simplification
of legal procedures and protection for transporters
·
Better
financial inclusion for women entrepreneurs
·
Strong
policy support for EV adoption in logistics
The
discussion reinforced a simple but powerful message:
When
women move forward, the transport sector and the nation move forward faster.
AITWA
will continue to work closely with policymakers to ensure a safer, more
inclusive, and progressive logistics ecosystem.
Regards
Team AITWA
